Daily Affirmation – Revised

My partner Terrie and I recently came up with an exciting business idea; as we brainstormed the future and envisioned the success of the business, I realized that until now I have not really seen myself as being wealthy. I feel very blessed to have made the money I have made and to be in a position of financial independence. (I haven’t had to work full-time since 2004.)

Nevertheless, as I contemplate the potential of this new business venture, my self-identity is evolving to where I can actually see myself making millions of dollars. (I’ll talk more about this in future blogs). As a result, I decided to modify my daily affirmation to align it with my new goals and vision:

“I am a spiritual warrior, a hologram of God. I stalk personal power and create my life moment-by-moment. I am healthy, wealthy, wise and free. I am L.O.V.E.–Living Only Vibrant Energy.”

As you can see, this new version of my daily affirmation is also much shorter than the previous one. This presents several advantages:  it is much easier to remember, much quicker to affirm and packs a punch with its brevity. In short, I like it, and I look forward to making it a part of my daily life.

Grounding

Over the years I have often heard people–mostly from the New Age community–say things like “I need to get grounded” or “I’m just not feeling grounded”. I really had no idea what they were talking about.

Now I realize from personal experience that, not only is grounding an important practice, but it is also a daily source of personal power. I want to acknowledge the teacher who brought me to this realization:  Barbara Hand Clow. I highly recommend her books “The Pleiadian Agenda” and “Alchemy of Nine Dimensions”.

My intention now is to begin every day with a practice of grounding, which includes most importantly the honoring of the seven directions and what they represent (according to Hand Clow and other teachers and traditions). Here they are:  East – spirit of new beginnings and creativity; South – spirit of nurturing and support; West – spirit of transformation and transmutation; North – spirit of wisdom, remembering and challenge; Down – Mother Earth, spirit of power and origins; Up – Father Sky, spirit of connection and expansion; Within – Your own heart, source of love and compassion.

When I honor my own heart, I repeat a wonderful mantra:  “May my heart be in the heart of the Universe; May the heart of the Earth be in my heart; May my heart be in the heart of the Earth; May the heart of the Universe be in my heart.”

This practice is not a burden. If it becomes one I will stop. Rather it is a genuine, heartfelt source of joy, power and connection. I will share a few more components of my daily grounding practice with you in future blogs.

My Daily Affirmation

For some time now, I have used a daily affirmation. Whenever I say it to myself, I can actually FEEL the surge of personal power in my body and my consciousness. I developed the final version of this affirmation over a period of a month or so. I am quite sure that it will evolve further in the future as I learn, grow and change. For a while I was saying the affirmation on a daily basis during my morning walk. Lately, I haven’t been using it daily, but on any given day it will enter my consciousness, and I will reel it off. It ALWAYS gives me a sense of personal power whenever I use it. Here it is:

I am a spiritual warrior, a hologram of God.  I stalk personal power and create my life moment-by-moment.  I am healthy.  My fulcrum body weight is 180 lbs.  My fulcrum body fat is 20%.  I am strong.  I am flexible.  I am happy.  I always follow my heart, and I allow no consciousness dissonance.  I am free.  I live boundlessly and I express my personal power with deep compassion.  I am L.O.V.E.:  Living Only Vibrant Energy.

Confession

I realized after my last post that I had fallen into a trap I am ALL TOO FAMILIAR with–I was writing from my head instead of my heart. As a result, my first three posts on this blog sound intellectual and basically boring. They aren’t alive, because they don’t come from my heart. I was tempted to delete them from the blog, but I decided to leave them there as a testimony and a reminder.

My challenge going forward is to always write from my heart and to share with you my daily walk on the path to personal power. Actually, I feel both relieved and excited to do so!

Where Does Personal Power Come From (Part 3)

Personal power comes from CONNECTION. We all have a perfect metaphor for this in our homes. I am talking about all the electrical appliances that receive their power to operate when we plug them into a wall socket. In the same way, we must be “plugged in” to a power source in order to access personal power. Our end of the power cord is located in our heart. The other end of the power cord comes in an infinite variety of forms.

For some people, it is their loved ones–whether family or friend. For others, it is something they wear, like a necklace. Our ancestors relied heavily on handmade articles of clothing or adornment as the connection to their personal power. Perhaps a totem relationship with a certain animal provides your connection to personal power.  Many people establish a power connection by engaging in some form of ceremony or ritual.

Of course, the power source is not the POWER itself. The power source is something we can see, taste or touch in the physical world. It acts as the connection route to the actual POWER (call it a force), which exists in the unseen world.

Where Does Personal Power Come From? (Part 2)

You may have gotten the impression from my comments in “Where Does Personal Power Come From? (Part I)” that I believe my personal power comes from outside of myself.  Not so.  Actually, I essentially agree with the person who points to her chest/heart as the source of personal power.  In fact, the path to personal power is a “path of the heart” first and foremost.

Although it may seem obvious, I think it’s important to mention that we are not talking about the physical heart here.  Rather, the heart we are referring to here is something metaphysical–that is, something beyond the physical–something we cannot see or touch.  When you point to your chest and declare that your personal power comes from within (i.e. the heart), you are instantly in the realm of the spiritual.

Even from a scientific perspective, power is still described as something unseen, that is, metaphysical.  Sure, we can see the effects of power.  Nature is very powerful, and you don’t want to mess with the power of a hurricane, a tornado or a volcano, right?  But when you experience a hurricane or tornado, you feel the wind and you see and feel the rain.  Power is the unseen force behind the wind and the rain, just like gravity is the unseen force that keeps us from floating off into space.

Where Does Personal Power Come From? (Part 1)

I often ask my clients this very question: “Where do you think your personal power comes from?”  Often they answer “from inside” and they point to their chest or heart.  OK, but does that really get at the SOURCE of our personal power?  If it comes from within, where is our “within” getting the power from in the first place?

Let’s take, for instance, the cells in our bodies.  They generate power every moment.  The power comes from the energy contained in the food we eat.  If we don’t eat, we eventually die.  (Interestingly, however, there are reports of yogis–highly developed spiritual masters–who either don’t eat food at all, or they eat very, very little food, yet they remain alive and healthy.)

Our cells generate power, but that’s not the same as personal power, which is the capability to create the experience(s) of happiness and freedom in our daily life.  There are lots of people alive around the planet who are neither happy or free, RIGHT?  We all know quite a few of them, don’t we?

So, if our personal power is coming from “within”, where does it originate?
